This is the Elmar 180/4 3-cams. We can take a look at this lens conversion thanks to our friend Karsten, who took these pictures for us all. |
First, remove the bayonet screws. |
Now lift the bayonet vertically, in case the black shroud doesn't allow to remove the bayonet, you'd need to remove it first. |
Look for the small ball and save it for now. The best way is to take it with a greased tip, not the tweezers. |
Parts removed. NEW! With the new Leitax mount model, you can reuse the black tube to avoid flares, take a look here. |
Unscrew and remove the first clear metal cam and its shims if there is any under it. |
Now the second cam, here the shims are secured by the third cam, that must not be removed.. |
Now we can replace the small ball at its place and leave a little bit of special grease on it. |
Install the Leitax bayonet. The Leica-Nikon bayonet has the red dot slightly to the right from the scale center. |
And replace the six screws, not too tight. |
So we can use this excellent Leica lens on our modern cameras |
This is the first picture that Karsten took with this lens on his D700. I would like to thank again Karsten for his great picture series. |
